Latest NewsDGNZ win Supreme Awards...Morpheus the Rock Star!A great night was had by all on Saturday the 20th February at the recent 2010 Rising Stars National Red Hard Antler competition.DGNZ proudly won two of the supreme awards of which Morpheus DG was the star: Morpheus DG is the 3yr old Red Hard Antler Award Champion Morpheus DG also won the National Rising Stars Supreme Trophy Award 3 out of the 4 stags in the 3yr class were bred by DGNZ. 1st: Morpheus DG 3rd: Othello (congratulations to Bob Atkinson of Sarnia Deer) 4th: Huneric DG Congratulations Team! 2010 Stag Sale - A Great SuccessThere was a very good turn out and the weather was kind. Don's home cured bacon was enjoyed by all at the breakfast.There was alot of interest and good comments on the Sire Stags. Bidding was brisk and compeititvewith Clarkie providing his usual entertaining auctioneering. The top Stag price was $31,000. . 2009 Stag Sale - DGNZ reaches new heights!
The 2009 Elite Stag Sale was very successful, with a great turnout and bidders pleasantly surprised by the quality of stock on display. Don's smokey bacon was enjoyed by all, yes we'll be expecting that again next year Donald!Congratulations to Don & Kelly for the high quality of stock put up for sale. And for yet again obtaining the highest average sale price in the country, for the 5th sale now in a row.

DGNZ Judges Young Farmer of Year Contest
Deer Genetics NZ Directors Don & Kelly Bennett recently judged the Deer Section of the grand final 2008 Young Farmer of the Year Contest. A great day was had by all in Ashburton, with the contestants facing a raft of practical challenges throughout the day. The Deer Section, being a challenging segment for the 7 contestants, included Velvet Grading, SCI Scoring and Semen Handling.Congratulations to David Skiffington, who won the Young Farmer of the Year Title for 2008.

Don and Anne’s was the place to be,Deer Genetics with superb sires to see.
Smokey bacon set the tone, eggs to follow,
Before the drone, of Clarkies voice,
so well known.
Stunning stags, so young its true,
So bid up , this one’s for you.
So many stags of quality, it’s hard to pick,
At 2 year old! So bid up quick
Lot 3, the star, to slow you bid,
With 30 points and beam to boot,
Too slow, you missed the best,
Trophy sires with 30 points plus.
Lets see what else, will do for us.
Lot 7 next in line, with 34 points ,
Damn there’s Bob, he knows his deer,
My budget smaller, going North I fear.
At 3 year olds they are looking great,
Stunning trophy sires, so hard to find,
Don’s breeding stags, the best around.
All lots sold, & great average too,
Well done, Don, Anne and Kelly
