Thank you to all our supporters for their contribution to a magnificent start to the 2012 year. Our sire stag sale held on Mon 9th Jan 2012 went exceptionally well, with only one lot passing, and a very high average sale price (currently NZ's second highest average sale price for the year).
Great food, brilliant company, and we hope a memorable night had by all.
Congratulations to those buyers who secured our top of the line genetics, in particular the successful buyers of "Sulla DG", we will be watching his development over the coming years with much interest.
DGNZ will be providing a small number of our finest hinds for private sale again this year,

Morpheus the Monster gains another award
2011 National Red Trophy Antler Award-2nd
Morpheus's 4yr head has come 2nd place in the National Red Trophy Award (first place was won by a 6yr head).
A very entertaining night was had by all.

The 2011 NI Velvet Competition overall winner & National 4yr Red "Griso" (Tag I59) comes from Deer Genetics NZ bloodlines. Griso is a 4yr old who cut 9.0kg velvet. He won the 4yr Velvet Award, First Overall Award and the Peoples Choice.

Our top Sires are beginning to cast and we are very excited about the coming season.
This year we have over 100 top of the line 2 year old Stags to grow out. These stags are purpose bred with decades of genetic superiority bred into them . We will be tracking their progress carefully and will be reporting on developments over the coming months. Out of these 100 stags we will be choosing some of the best to feature in our Annual Elite Sire Stag Sale early January 2012.
The farms are looking spectacular. We have had an early spring this year, grass is growing very well and the animals are in top form.

Genetic Coup for Deer Genetics NZ
Hotshot "Mentor DG" National Champion
Don & Kelly Bennett are grinning ear to ear. On Saturday 19th Feb Mentor DG, an Elite Sire Stag bred by Deer Genetics NZ, won two massive awards at the National Rising Stars Awards held in the Waikato.
Mentor DG, who recently scored a phenomenal 435 at 2yrs, won the 2 year old Red Hard Antler Award, and was crowned Supreme Champion 2011 (equal first).
Although this is a momentous occasion for Deer Genetics, it does not come as a suprise. Last year Morpheus DG, another Elite Sire Stag, was crowned Supreme Champion 2010, and also the 2010 3yr Red Hard Antler Champion.
"We have one of the most Elite Red Deer Herds in the World, it has taken 30 years to get there, and it's only just beginning.
These are the big boys, and they're getting more and more magnificent ever year."

Our Sire Stags Scored - New World Records
Our stags were independantly scored on 17 Jan 2011.
Morpheus DG has been scored at 603 @ 4years, the highest score in history for a 4 year old stag. He has jumped 72 points since his 3yr score of 531. A massive 49 points, this stag is a real looker.
Huneric DG is the 3rd highest scoring stag @ 4years ever. He jumped an outstanding 69 points since his 3 year score of 501. At 4 years he has 35 points and a main beam of a massive 45 inches.
Mentor DG is the new record breaker. At only 2 years Mentor DG has scored 435, with 37 points. This is an unbeaten record for a 2 year old stag. History in the making. We are watching this stag with much interest.

2011 Elite Stag Sale "A Brilliant Success"
The DGNZ Elite Stag Sale was a brilliant success. With a very large turn-out of over 175 people, the pork spit and was much enjoyed by everyone.
This year we had the largest number of buyers on record, and with 95% clearance Don's is very pleased.
We look foward to seeing you at our 2012 Elite Stag Sale being held next January 2012.

DGNZ Wins Another Award
A great night was had by all on Saturday the 20th February at the recent 2010 Rising Stars National Red Hard Antler competition.
DGNZ proudly won two of the supreme awards of which Morpheus DG was the star:
Morpheus DG is the 3yr old Red Hard Antler Award Champion
Morpheus DG also won the National Rising Stars Supreme Trophy Award
3 out of the 4 stags in the 3yr class were bred by DGNZ.

2010 Stag Sale - A Great Success
There was a very good turn out and the weather was kind. Don's home cured bacon was enjoyed by all at the breakfast.
There was alot of interest and good comments on the Sire Stags. Bidding was brisk and compeititvewith Clarkie providing his usual entertaining auctioneering. The top Stag price was $31,000. .
We are very happy with the sale and thank all the bidders for making it such a success.

DGNZ Wins at National Hard Antler Awards...
1st - National 2yr Old Red Hard Antler Champion 2009
Huneric DG's 2yr head has an outstanding external spread of 40 inches. He scored an amazing 405 @ 2yrs. We will track the progress of this up and coming sire with great anticipation.
4th - National 2yr Old Red Hard Antler Awards 2009
Morpheus DG has scored a brilliant 380 @ 2yrs. This new sire has a whopping 17 x 18 points, 35 points in total at only 2 years of age. A web new page dedicated to Morpheus DG with latest photos & pedigree info is now available.
2009 Stag Sale - DGNZ reaches new heights!
The 2009 Elite Stag Sale was very successful, with a great turnout and bidders pleasantly surprised by the quality of stock on display. Don's smokey bacon was enjoyed by all, yes we'll be expecting that again next year Donald!
Congratulations to Don & Kelly for the high quality of stock put up for sale. And for yet again obtaining the highest average sale price in the country, for the 5th sale now in a row.
